Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to lead the administration, optimization, security, and availability of mission-critical data platforms supporting enterprise SaaS applications, analytics, and customer-facing systems.
This role is responsible for maintaining highly available SQL Server environments while partnering with Development, DevOps, Data Engineering, and Product teams to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing database systems. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting production incidents, designing HA/DR architectures, tuning complex workloads, and supporting cloud modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments across production, staging, and development.
- Manage Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, Replication, and Log Shipping.
- Perform installations, upgrades, migrations, and patch management.
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
Performance Optimization
- Monitor and tune database performance.
- Optimize query execution plans, indexes, blocking, deadlocks, TempDB, memory, and I/O.
- Partner with development teams to improve application performance and scalability.
Production Support
- Participate in an on-call production support rotation.
- Troubleshoot critical production incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
- Support database deployments and release management.
Security & Compliance
- Implement database security best practices.
- Manage permissions and role-based access controls.
- Support compliance and data governance requirements.
- Conduct vulnerability remediation and security audits.
Cloud & Modernization
- Support hybrid cloud database architectures.
- Manage SQL Server in cloud and virtualized infrastructure.
- Collaborate on Snowflake integrations and ETL workloads.
- Evaluate emerging database technologies.
Automation
- Develop PowerShell and T-SQL automation.
- Automate maintenance tasks and monitoring.
- Improve deployment pipelines and operational efficiencies.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience.
- 3+ years supporting enterprise production environments.
- Experience supporting 24x7 mission-critical systems.
Technical Skills
SQL Server: SQL Server 2019–2025, T-SQL, Always On Availability Groups, Replication, Log Shipping, SSIS, SQL Agent
Performance: Query tuning, Index optimization, Execution plan analysis, Deadlock analysis, Extended Events, DMVs
High Availability: Backup and recovery, Disaster recovery planning, Clustering, Database failover strategies
Infrastructure: Windows Server, PowerShell, IIS fundamentals, Storage and SAN concepts
Monitoring: Redgate SQL Monitor, SentryOne, SolarWinds DPA, New Relic, Grafana
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Snowflake, Elasticsearch, Redis, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Experience supporting enterprise SaaS applications.
- Experience administering PostgreSQL and MySQL environments is a plus.
- Automotive industry experience preferred.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts.
